Quality Assurance Services
At 5H Tech, we plan for quality at project inception and throughout the life of each project. Quality is more than a document review or a field inspection. Quality permeates every aspect of our project planning, execution, and closeout. 5H Tech’s consultants are experienced and trained to ensure that our stringent quality procedures are invoked on each project. Our proactive approach to quality at all project phases has resulted in recognition from our government and commercial clients.
QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Our formal quality and environmental management programs are embodied in 5H Tech’s Corporate Quality Assurance Manual (QAM) which was prepared in accordance with recognized Quality Assurance /Quality Control (QA/QC) industry standards and protocols. Authoritative standards that 5H Tech’s QAM incorporates include ISO 14000, ISO 9000, 10 CFR 830.120, NQA-1, and DOE Order 414.1. The Environmental Management Program Manual (EMP) was prepared in accordance with recognized Environmental Management System standards meeting ISO 14001:2400 and incorporates DOE Order 450.1(a).<br>
Implementation of our quality and environmental programs and processes is through tailored, project-specific QA/QC and Environmental Safety & Health plans that are designed to meet client-specific and internal requirements. We utilize a “graded approach” which ensures that the QA/QC and ES&H plans for each project is detailed and relevant to each client’s needs.
A key feature of our program is establishing and implementing the Three-Phase Inspection System for each definable feature of work. Prior to beginning any task, it must be planned in advance in accordance with QAM and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements.
These requirements include preparatory inspection, initial inspection, and follow-up inspection for each definable feature of work. All “open” items are tracked to final inspection and acceptance.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Client interviews and surveys are conducted independently for active projects. Based on project audit results and client feedback, the Quality Management team provides a feedback to senior management. All areas perceived or identified as needing improvements are immediately addressed by management. This process facilitates continuing quality improvement within and across projects.
QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT
5H Tech’s highly trained staff assists in modifying existing quality systems and/or developing new systems to meet various specifications such as ISO 9000/2000, ISO 14000, NQA-1, DOD, and EPA. This also includes training the customer’s staff members to the new system requirements. In addition, assessments and evaluations can be performed to validate compliance with such systems.
QUALITY MANUAL AND PROCEDURES REVIEW AND DEVELOPMENT
Experienced 5H Tech QA staff members review and consult on existing systems and procedures to improve processes, to upgrade systems to new specifications, or to prepare for registration/accreditation surveys.
AUDIT, INSPECTION, AND SURVEILLANCE
Audit, inspection, and surveillance services typically include quality system reviews, gap analyses, source and site inspections/assessments, internal and supplier audits, and receiving and in-process QC inspections. Detailed in-process inspections are carefully planned and integrated with the production schedule at appropriate stages. These inspections verify compliance to specifications before components are made inaccessible by further processing and in verifying work control to work instructions and applicable procedures and other guidance documents.
5H Tech staff members have conducted hundreds of audits and surveillances in their careers. One staff member developed the Corporate Audit Protocol for the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC). This protocol for environmental audits of waste processing, waste storage, waste treatment, and waste disposal facilities are still in use today. It was modeled from similar systems developed by Lockheed Martin and other Fortune 500 companies. Environmental audits are the pinnacle of the environmental and quality assurance business services provided by 5H Tech.
Staff members have demonstrated time and again proficiency in dealing with local, state, and Federal regulators. Environmental protocols include visits to local and state level regulatory agencies to review key compliance measures by the facility/company being audited. Staff members have also performed audits that comply with state laws governing privileged information. As such, the documents are appropriately marked and files are kept in a secure chain of command in order to comply with the regulatory requirements keeping the audit documents outside the auspices of the regulatory agencies.
5H Tech has developed its own audit protocol for industrial and waste management facilities. The audit protocol is very detailed and can be modified/customized to meet the particular needs of a client. Several staff members have an intimate knowledge of the marine industry as well as contracts with port agencies, the US Coast Guard, and the US Navy.
CORRECTIVE AND PREVENTIVE ACTION
Experienced staff will implement a meaningful corrective and preventive action system that utilizes data from various areas of the organization including management reviews and strategic planning, and through utilization of tracking and trending for long-term problem solution. We will use Six Sigma, TAP Root, and Root Cause Analysis based on the needs of the organization and the issue to be worked.
